The Three Minute Thesis Competition -- Jimmy
I
couldn’t follow all the contents of those two presentations. However, between
those two topics, I think “Wildlife Tourism: Bridging the Gap Between Social
Media & Reality” is more interesting for me. Everybody should concern about
this issue. In this topic, it mentioned about wildlife tourism poses
significant ethical challenges, from animal welfare concerns to environmental
impacts. Instances of animals being disturbed for the sake of the perfect shot
are really common. Holly Bates Williams perfectly condense and fluently present
her research important points in three minutes. However, Arung Gihna Mayapada
presented “Do UK Charities Perform Better with Women Trustees” with enthusiasm and
confidence. She used many gestures and nice intonation. That really attracted audience’s
attention. So next time when I need to give presentation, I should improve and
enhance the intonation, eye-contact, gestures, and so on.
I think how to effective communicate in limited time is very important skill in the future. Just like the three minutes thesis, we could find that how to concern all important points in the research in very short time is very difficult. So we need to get more practice and work on using this skill.
