EAP Term 2 2024

It was the first time today for me to look for something about Otago University clubs so I wanted to find and have an interest some clubs. At the first, I saw a bulletin board that says what clubs are available. There were many international clubs such as Japan, Korea, China, India, and Malysia. I am interested in Korea and want to learn more about Korean culture and language so I decided to ask some information from the club members. But unfortunately, there was not Korean club at that time therefore I went to another clubs.   I talked and asked several questions for Japanese club and Indian club. They told me kindly and thrillingly. Also when I went to Indian club, she who is from India painted a henna tattoo on my hand. It was the first time in my life I had ever experienced that. I didn’t know much about all clubs and just wanted to know the details, so I asked some club members for information. I spent time interacting with members of k-pop, anime, choir, Indian students’ association, and tramping club. I talked with some students and got their basic information, so I’m satisfied. Especially, I wanted to know about the multicultural ball 2024 and it was good to know this information. Thanks to this event, I’m interested in k-pop club and anime club now. I’m going to go to activities of these clubs. Also, I want to go to the multicultural ball and make international friends. This event was good opportunity to know about clubs and interact with Otago uni students.

      I had a good time in the clubs day. Actually, I did not have many opportunities to communicate with students of this university and visit clubs. Additionally, I have always wanted to join club so I wanted to achieve the goal which is get information about dance club and also, find other clubs that I have interest.      First of all, the club which is I was interested in was dance club, "ODA". So I got valuable infomation about their activities. In addition, I could visit some clubs which is "YOUNG NATS" "Anime Club" and "MUSA" and communicat with clubs students. I tried a game at the MUSA area and it was fun. But actually, there were some parts that I could not catch properly even if it was important. It’s really cool that the clubs day event be hold to let students have more opportunity to interact with other students. There were a lot of clubs that I could find something interesting. Through exploring different clubs, I could feel their passion among their hobbies, interests, and countries. I was glad that I found badminton clubs. I spent time interacting with them and knew the information about following activities they hold. I thought if I would like to extend my networking, I need to follow up promptly. Maybe I ought to join the game on this Saturday. Overall, I thought the clubs day was a successful event.

 I joined Dancing club and Chinese association today. I felt so nervous, but they welcomed me and they gave me a lot of information.  Actually I already joined Japanese association, so I don't have plan to join any other clubs. At first I wasn't sure how to start the conversations. Also, I'm very shy, so I was so scared to talk to people by myself. However, after I could join with Toko and Cathy,  I felt little more confident to joining with the other people. Honestly I thought it's fun to make a conversation with different countries people.  There were different activities even just different countries association and people are welcome to chatting with me.  I have a wish bone to communicate with people more globally and from clubs day, this wish got more stronger. To achieve that , I thought it is important to try to speak with the other people and I need to overcome of being shy.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t find out the club which I would strongly like to join. Therefore, I felt like there was no wishbone at today’s booths of clubs.  However, I was satisfied with today’s event because I supposed I was able to make good relationships between the member of the club and me. When I communicated with them, I really took care of having respect toward the member who explained the activity of the club to me because having respect while we’re communicating leads to comfortable communication for each other. Speaking of jawbone, it appeared to me that I communicated with them with jawbone because I focused on having humility while they were talking. In terms of backbone, it seems to me that it’s not only true for today’s event because I couldn’t look for the  club which I was interested in. Hence, I need to strive for good opportunities from now on as well. I’ll keep becoming persistent to make my studying abroad more satisfying.

  It was really good to join the event. Firstly, I was thinking to find something interesting. I've already joined one club so I wasn't thinking to join another one. However, there were a lot of interesting clubs such as tramping and yoga. And also I found a cultural gathering which I'm really interested in. I'm going to take part in them and I suppose they should be parts of my delightful life.
